TRAINING
Not only does Cheadle Sports Club provide Children a chance to play a sport, it also gives young people a chance to be part of a team and learn about discipline and teamwork. We have an experienced network of coaching staff to enable new members and especially children to enhance their skills.
The lacrosse season usually runs from September to April depending upon fixtures and tournaments but is often extended. However, we continue to train virtually all year round, with a break during August and in between Christmas and New Year.
Training for the boys section is held on Tuesday evening between 6pm and 7pm for our U10’s and U12s, 7-8pm u14s and Wednesday 6:00 – 7:30pm for our U16’s. Training is fully supervised by our accredited coaching staff.
Each session is tailor made for the age group and is designed to suit all abilities. At the youngest age group, we tend to focus upon fun activities, developing basic lacrosse skills (such as throwing, catching, ground ball pick up, dodging and positioning), through to more strategic sessions which focus on more advanced levels of ability.
Equipment can be provided if required.
matches
Games are played on Saturday mornings (normally 9:15am arrival for a 10.00 am start) and last for an hour. Cheadle Teams play in the Junior North League and matches are held both at Cheadle and also away, with the away teams being located within half an hour to an hour from Cheadle. Games are generally played on grass so ‘football’ boots will be required.
Development tournaments (u10’s) are normally held on a monthly basis, mostly on a Sunday afternoon, and generally start at 1pm and last for 2/3 hours
As their experience improves, our players will have the opportunity to play in tournaments, trial for Cheshire County teams and also trial m/ take part in Regional and National England Academy intakes.
We regularly hold training camps at Cheadle where girls and boys can train with experienced coaches who have played at the highest level.
what do i need
We love to welcome new boys to come and try out this sport. All you will need initially is a properly moulded mouthguard, all other equipment can be provided for you. We train on the tennis courts during winter so trainer type shoes are best for this. For games and training on grass then studs will be required.
